What Kenal Stamps is

Kenal Stamps is an automated stamp duty service that assesses signed agreements under LHDN self-assessment, files them on the LHDN STAMPS portal and returns the stamp certificate to the contract record.

Its robot, Kenal SHEAR, does the filing on the LHDN STAMPS portal, so your team no longer keys agreements in by hand. Customers work in the web app at stamps.kenal.io, or send agreements straight from their own systems.

How it works

Three steps from signed agreement to stamp certificate.

  1. Upload, assess and track

    Upload tenancy, loan or employment agreements, or send them through the API. Kenal Stamps reads the parties, dates, rent or value, works out the duty under the Stamp Act rules and shows every contract's stamping status in one list.

  2. Kenal SHEAR files with LHDN

    Kenal SHEAR submits agreements to the LHDN STAMPS portal in batches and confirms that every one landed. It runs unattended on a schedule, at 600 agreements an hour.

  3. The certificate comes back to the record

    When LHDN issues the stamp certificate, Kenal Stamps retrieves it and attaches it to the contract, ready to download. Every contract keeps its assessment, filing record and certificate together.

Which agreements can Kenal Stamps stamp?

Kenal Stamps stamps tenancy agreements, loan and financing agreements, employment contracts and general contracts. It works out the duty for each type under the Stamp Act rules, including fixed and ad valorem duty, duplicate copies and exemptions, then files the agreement with LHDN and returns the stamp certificate to the contract record, ready to download.

What is Kenal SHEAR?

Kenal SHEAR is the robot inside Kenal Stamps that does the filing work on the LHDN STAMPS portal. It submits agreements in batches, confirms that every one landed, retrieves certificates and files appeals, unattended and on a schedule. It handles 600 agreements an hour, work that takes at least 15 minutes per agreement by hand.

Is Kenal Stamps ready for LHDN self-assessment (STSDS)?

Yes. Kenal Stamps is built for STSDS, the stamp duty self-assessment system in force since 1 January 2026, which puts the duty calculation on the taxpayer. It computes duty under the Stamp Act rules, including late-stamping penalties and the 2026 penalty remission, and keeps the assessment, filing and certificate together for every contract.

Can our HR or loan system send agreements to Kenal Stamps directly?

Yes. Kenal Stamps has a partner API for HR, payroll, lending and e-signing platforms, so agreements can flow in straight from the system that created them. Requests are signed, repeated requests are safely ignored, and signed webhooks tell your system when a certificate is ready. How much volume can Kenal Stamps handle?

Kenal Stamps handles high volume as a matter of routine: more than 10,000 contracts are stamped through it every month. Kenal SHEAR files 600 agreements an hour, so a backlog that would take a team weeks by hand clears in a working day, and every contract keeps its assessment, filing record and certificate.
